‘Biggest asshole’: Homophobic sect leader files another criminal report

‘River of Love’ leader Gordon Manché reported Sean Buhagiar to the police after the artistic director repeated quips from comedians

Teatru Malta’s artistic director Sean Buhagiar has been questioned by police for repeating previous quips from satirists against pastor Manché.

“Gordon-John Manche, also known as Malta’s biggest asshole, kindly refrain from interfering with satire, or we may be compelled to relocate the River of Love to Buġibba and carpet bomb!”, Buhagiar wrote.

In his post, Buhagiar defended comedian Daniel Xuereb and satirist Matt Bonanno after Manché reported them to the police for comments made against him.

Bonanno had jokingly stated that River of Love should relocate to Buġibba and be carpet bombed.

Xuereb joked about Manche being “Malta’s biggest asshole” while taking a dig at the pastor’s comments on “Sess Fil-Patata” – anal sex.

While the Times of Malta reported charges, Matt Bonanno clarified on Friday morning there were “no charges as of yet” against him.

Buhagiar, now the third artist that has been reported by the pastor, warned that Manché is becoming “a real menace to cherished principles of free speech and satirical expression in our community”.

He said that the creative community could take a collective stance by calling Manché “Malta’s biggest asshole” and suggesting to “relocate River of Love to Buġibba, then carpet bomb. Two birds with one stone”.

On Friday morning, Culture Minister Owen Bonnici said it was unacceptable for individuals to abuse the law to try to stifle artists.

Bonnici and Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri said they would work together to review whether any further legal changes are needed to protect artists.
