Maltese pro-choice doctor named one of BBC’s ‘100 Women 2023’

Maltese pro-choice doctor Natalie Psaila has made it to the BBC’s list of 100 inspiring and influential women from around the world

Psaila, a family doctor and co-founder of Doctors for Choice, is the first Maltese woman to be featured in the BBC’s annual list.

“Malta has some of the strictest rules on abortion in Europe and Natalie Psaila helps women who need information and advice. She co-founded Doctors for Choice Malta, and advocates decriminalisation and legalisation of abortion and better access to contraception”, the BBC explained.

“Really glad that finally, the struggles of those who can get pregnant in Malta is finally being given international attention”, Psaila said in her first reaction.

The list also features attorney and former US First Lady Michelle Obama, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, and US feminist icon Gloria Steinem.
