Schembri claims PN PAC members denied him fair hearing

Keith Schembri has claimed PN MPs breached his right to fair hearing when he testified on the Electrogas scandal in recent Public Accounts Committee meetings

Lawyers of the former chief of staff of disgraced prime minister Joseph Muscat filed an application for constitutional proceedings on Thursday.

Schembri argued that, in breach of his rights, Nationalist PAC members had rejected his request for a Speaker ruling to suspend his testimony until a criminal investigation is concluded.

Last week, the PN committee members asked the police to launch criminal proceedings after Keith Schembri indicated Edward Scicluna and Silvio Valletta had lied under oath.

Either Valletta and Scicluna had lied under oath in the Daphne Caruana Galizia public inquiry, or Schembri did so before the PAC on Tuesday, the PN MPs said last week.
